Aaron Seidel: A Wrestling Phenom Poised for Historic Fourth State Title

Northern Lebanon’s Aaron Seidel is no stranger to making headlines. With a career record of 184-3 and three consecutive PIAA state championships under his belt, the senior wrestler is now on the brink of etching his name into Pennsylvania wrestling history. Seidel, who recently recorded his 100th career pin during the District 3, Class 2A tournament, is aiming to become the 15th wrestler in Pennsylvania history to win four state titles.

Seidel’s dominance on the mat is unparalleled. Since his freshman year, he has amassed an astonishing 171-2 record, with 90 career pins, making him one of the most decorated wrestlers in Lebanon County history16. His relentless work ethic and unwavering focus have set him apart from his peers. “Aaron is an amazing athlete with a tremendous work ethic. It’s hard to imagine another person on the planet who works harder,” said Northern Lebanon head coach Rusty Wallace.

This season, Seidel has continued to shine. He claimed the 133-pound crown at the prestigious Beast of the East Tournament in December, defeating some of the nation’s top wrestlers. Over the summer, he added another accolade to his resume by winning the Fargo Junior National Championships at 126 pounds4. His recent victory at the Lancaster-Lebanon League championships further solidified his status as a favorite heading into the PIAA state tournament in March.

But Seidel’s journey is about more than just personal accolades. Known for his humility and team-first mentality, he has become a role model for younger wrestlers. “Aaron is an unbelievable human being, a great student, and a remarkable role model for young athletes,” Wallace added4. Seidel often spends time mentoring his teammates, including junior Sam Wolford, who is aiming for his second PIAA medal this season.

Looking ahead, Seidel is committed to Virginia Tech, where he plans to continue his wrestling career. His long-term goals include becoming an NCAA champion, an All-American, and even competing on the world and Olympic stages1. “Winning four state titles in Pennsylvania would be so sick because so few people have done it. But when you’re wrestling in college, no one cares how many state titles you won in high school. That’s what I’m focused on right now,” Seidel said.

As the PIAA state tournament approaches, all eyes are on Seidel. A fourth title would not only cement his legacy as one of Pennsylvania’s greatest wrestlers but also inspire future generations. “I want to leave a legacy here and have people remember me forever,” Seidel remarked.
